Submitted by Administrator on Sat, 03/29/2008 - 12:39

From the 1st of January 2012 it will be illegal to purchase or consume meat, in the UK, without an appropriate licence.

Every person in the U.K., wishing to purchase or consume meat, will be required by law to obtain an appropriate licence. Licences can be obtained, only by slaughtering an animal in a corresponding category.

e.g. If you currently eat pork and wish to continue doing so after January 1st 2012 then you will be required to make an appointment with your local Meat Licence One-Stop-Shop or Meat Licencing Approved Slaughterhouse (M.L.A.S.) and kill one pig under the supervision of a Meat Licence Officer.

Types of meat will be listed and classified alongside broadly corresponding animal categories. 2.5.2008 (Version 1.3)
